Growing up in North India, I was ridiculed & teased for my colour. They used to call me Kala which means black like it was derogatory. The media & Bollywood continues to enhance the idea that fair is beautiful by shoving products like Fair & Lovely. I wanted to use my art & voice to encourage dark skinned people of colour like myself that each and everyone of them is beautiful just the way they are.
